Blue Angel — Label for environment and climate friendly products and services

The Blue Angel is the first and most well-known quality label of the world.

For 40 years it labels products being particularily environmentally and climatically friendly.

The basic criteria of the Blue Angel are revised every three to four years.

The Blue Angel consists of

• the Environmental Label Jury as its independent, decision-making body including representatives different areas like environmental and consumer associations, trade unions, industry, the trade, crafts, local authorities, academia, the media, churches, young people and the German federal states.

• The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz, Bau und Reaktorsicherheit) as its owner

• The Federal Environmental Agency (Umweltbundesamt) in the specialist department “Ecodesign, Eco-Labelling and Environmentally friendly Procurement” as office of the Environmental Label Jury and developer of the  basic criteria

• RAL gGmbH as its awarding body and manager of involving interested groups during criteria development
